Corporate Greed(PID:37962084935) Source

Ahhh, corporate greed. When I was getting out of school twenty years ago – I read two articles that made me fairly excited for the future. The first was about how the industrial revolution changed the work week from 6 days to five. Henry Ford was not the first to do so, but was one of the first. A typical American family at the time, with 2 parents and a bunch of kids, needed six working days a week to support themselves. With the industrial revolution, they only needed 5 days of working to support their family. The second article was about the upcoming technological revolution. How wonderful, I thought, as improvements in technology, processes and manufacturing would lead us to 4 day work weeks! Plus, with households with 2 people working – maybe we would only need to work 2-3 days each! Although there is still some revolution to come, the main pulse of the technological revolution has already occurred. Instead of 4 day work weeks – many families have two working adults for a total of 10 working days per week for a typical household. Often times it is not enough. Not because they are looking for unprecedented material goods, but because the buying power of the dollar is lower and many struggle to make ends meet. Honestly, I have no idea how a household without a college educated professional is even able to make it work. Many jobs now are part time with low pay in the food service and retail industries and do not carry benefits. McConnell and Ryan and Mulvaney and the rest of them are bad, bad people. They are continually translating the people’s needs to them being lazy and undeserving of “entitlement programs”. The problem is that they look at Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid as entitlement programs. This new tax “reform” bill, with handwritten notes and sections provided directly by lobbyists, will add over a trillion dollars to the debt. When asked how they are going to make that work – they speak of the need to end entitlement programs. If you are on Social Security, Medicare or Medicaid – I would be very alarmed right now. If you are one of those that single source their news – this would be a great topic to do a multiple source review and get the full picture and see where everyone lines up. The corporate greed being fed to us is astonishing. Almost as astonishing as the number of people that are going to be hurt by this legislation are actually defending it. What a bummer. Hope the rest of your day gets better from here. Play Projects
