For the Get Pushed group. I received a challenge from dobseh for Round 9. Rob's Photostream is truly impressive, for a Pom. All jokes aside, you need to check him out and discover how he sees not only himself, but the world around him. Rob's Push to me when like this: I'd like a selfie, but not any old boring selfie. I want you to dress AS AN OTTER. Obviously as otters aren't really indoors type animals this has to be done outside. In public. Where people can see. It needs to be at least a waist to head shot in an environment where you would normally find one of your beloved animals. oh and he also added this ... I'd ask you to be holding the ashes urn, but as your country doesn't actually posses it at the moment, that wouldn't be really fair. 'Look closely' is all I have to say 'bout that Rob. So here's how I tackled it. This otter needs complete silence to think in. Seriously, all that rain pouring down is NOT conducive to clear thinking. It finally cleared up today (Friday) and as it happened I'd planned a day off work. Smart eh? it was a complete coincidence. I had this little stream in mind ever since Rob suggested the Push involve the public+ obvious otter hangout. It's perfect: clean water, a few rocks, grassy bank, dappled light.....made for otters! I collected all the necessary gear and props and headed out the door... and back in again because I remembered I'd need a fishing rod...and back out to the car.... and back in again because I'd forgotten my phone...and back out to the car. I set up the tripod under a tree and sat back to enjoy the scene. THEN I remembered I actually needed to take a photo *slaps forehead* 87 photos later and I had something to take home, load into PS and layer, slide and curve the cr&p out of! I cloned out some annoying weasels distractions and ended up with an otter (read as 'another' if you're confused with otterspeak) selfie, next to an otterly perfect public....with....the.....urn :) Oh and the otter mask I got for a birthday card a few years ago...well, it came in mighty handy I'd think you'd agree. A Brief History of Otters The otters are twelve species of semi-aquatic (or in one case aquatic) mammals which feed on fish and shellfish, and also other invertebrates, amphibians, birds and small mammals. It all tastes like chicken :P The otter is held to be a clean animal belonging to Ahura Mazda in Zoroastrian belief, and taboo to kill. You gotter love those Zoroastrians!! The otter subfamily Lutrinae forms part of the family Mustelidae, which also includes weasels, polecats, badgers, and wolverines. Otters are the smartest of the lot though and barely talk to weasels, not since the Great '83 flee outbreak. Don't ask... **************** So Rob, I hope you're still reading way down here and maybe we can work together again soon, in a parallel universe perhaps. Who knows what the future holds eh?!
