Fractals are mathematical equations that help predict the pattern of many things from crystal formation to snowflakes. Finding fractals in nature is tough to see at first, but if you look deeper, fractals help plants maximize leaf growth for photosynthesis and, in this case, maximize the efficiency of turkey tail mushrooms breaking down a woody stump and delivering spores.
