A storm blows over the Checkerboard Mesa in Zion National Park. During my last pass through Zion National Park I grabbed this shot of Checkerboard Mesa while killing some time before a meet up with William McIntosh. I was walking in my favorite part of Zion located at the back of the park looking for interesting beehive formations, when I started to feel raindrops. The sky was looking quite threatening so I turned to head back when I spied this gorgeous formation. This icon is awe inspiring and as I looked through the viewfinder thought what would create such an interesting pattern across this ancient monolith. The patterns stripped through the park are truly remarkable. Created from thousands of years of layered sand dunes the had solidified at different periods throughout the ages, and not created by glaciers as I had originally surmised. Nature is an awe inspiring architect. Thanks for taking the time to take a look at my photos, and as always, your views, comments, faves, and support are greatly appreciated!!
