If you like panoramas that are expansive and dramatic then Skye has you covered. I had been waiting all day for the cloud that cut our trip to Raasay short to lift. The sun eventually managed to penetrate the thick layers of drizzly grey in the last ten minutes of the day. The result was that both the Red and Black Cuillins were lit with lovely, warm orange light, making them stand out perfectly against the dense layers of cloud that were only just starting to lift. The rainbow that neatly divides the Red Cuillins and the Black Cuillins hadn't formed when I first started taking the component shots for this panorama, it's only when I got that far round the scene that I spotted it. Perhaps if I'd started taking this panorama later on, the rainbow would have had a stronger presence in the scene but equally, I could have started a second panorama and the rainbow might have disappeared by the time I'd gotten round that far. When I was on Skye in March of 2014, the sun never once came out and I was worried that this trip was going to go in exactly the same direction. Thankfully, we were treated to this scene and we had some sun on the drive home the next morning. Until this moment, I was beginning to feel a little fed up with Skye as I've been so often but seeing the landscape in the sun, even briefly made me remember why I like coming here so much. Let's have more of this next time.
