Part of the first batch of Lodekkas delivered to Bristol Omnibus, L8260 (THW 750) was new in 1955. An LD6B, she was allocated to Stroud garage for most of her life before moving south to Wells in the late 60s. Bristol withdrew and sold her to Thames Valley in Reading in 1970, where she became 630. With the inception of the Thames Valley and Aldershot Omnibus Company, otherwise known at Alder Valley, 630 became 511 in 1972. Life within the state sector ended in mid-1972 when L8260 was sold to dealers, Norths but a few months later she was acquired by Wray of Hoyle Mill, up the road from Barnsley. Her stay there ended in the spring of 1974 with the sale to dealers, Askin of Barnsley, from whom, I presume she didn't escape! I'm not sure what I was doing in that part of the world in the summer of 1973, nor why I have the operator as Thornes of Cudworth, but here L8260 is parked up at one of those locations. Can anybody help with the location?
