The amount of property, real and invested, of the University nowamounts to ten million dollars. The number of all former studentsand graduates is about twenty tliousand. XXIII of the Cincinnati School of Law, a man of letters, widely traveled, andregarding his inheritance as a trust, he resolved to devote the majorpart of it to the establishment of a school of science. On April 6, 1880, in accordance with deeds of trust pieviouslyexecuted, Case School of Applied Science was duly incorporatedunder the laws of Ohio. The following names were attached to theoriginal articles of incorporation: James D. Cleveland, R. P. Ranney, Levi Kei-r, Reuben Hitchcock,J. H. Devereux, A. Bradley, Henry G. Abbey, W. S. Streator, SamuelWilliamson, T. P. Handy, J. H. Wade, E. B. Hale, H. B. Payne,James J. Tracy, and Joseph Perkins. These men represented the best citizenship of Cleveland, and thesuccess of the school from the beginning has been largely due to theloyalty and wisdom of the governing boards who have administeredits funds.
