MERCED - At the request of the California Governor's Office of Emergency Services (OES), the Los Angeles Fire Department mobilized a 14 member Swift Water Rescue Team to Merced, California on February 19, 2017 in anticipation of floodwaters from record rains impacting that region. Joined by a similarly trained team from the Ventura County Fire Department, they trained closely with their City of Merced Fire Department colleagues, as local rivers continued to rise.
