Cars flowing slowly east and west along this main city street, the Zenkouji-dori, in the center of Echizen-city rolled down their windows to hear the protest shouts and see the 35-40 marchers escorted by uniform and plainclothes police. Some marchers carried banners, others help placards showing the stone wall with a printed text, "save our castle wall" or "conserve out heritage." A man and woman dressed in Edo-era armor headed the procession, directly behind the megaphone leader.
