On February 3, 2018 the LCC Foundation held a naming dedication and reception in honor of Jeane Wirkkala Moksness for her financial contribution to the college in the amount of $80,000. Her gift includes $75,000 for the Student Success Fund endowment and $5,000 for LCC’s Early Learning Center. Jeane’s connections to LCC span back to 1956 when she first attended LCC and played on the inaugural women’s basketball team. The team went undefeated in their first year. Jeane also worked for LCC’s Early Learning Center as an instructor and coordinator for 23 years before retiring in June 2000. She stays connected with the college through the LCC Retiree Association. “As a former student and instructor at Lower Columbia College, I am aware of the need for additional financial support for some students. I feel Lower Columbia College gives our community an excellent opportunity to further their educational goals.” — Jeane Wirkkala Moksness “Jeane’s philanthropic support of the college is a true testament to the importance of our staff, faculty, students & community partners and the impact they can have on generations to come,” — Kendra Sprague, LCC Vice President of Foundation, HR & Legal Affairs. “In honor of Jeane’s gift, the west lobby of LCC’s Myklebust Gymnasium & Fitness Center was named the “Jeane Wirkkala Moksness Lobby” — LCC President Chris Bailey.
