Dark Blue. The Chevrolet Motor Company was formed in 1911. The Camaro was introduced as competition for Ford's pony car, the Mustang, the Mustang, introduced in 1964 had been a huge success. The second generation Camaro was built from 1970-81, it was longer, lower and wider with a fastback roof line and no quarter windows, but the mechanicals were much the same, no convertible was available. 1970; the RS featured front bumperettes and round parking lights, the SS got the 350 or 396, simulated air intakes on the hood and the Z28 got the 360hp 350 from the Corvette. 1971; high back seats introduced, Z28 now only 275hp 1972; egg crate grille had fewer and larger rectangles 1973; SS dropped, impact absorbing bumpers on base and new LT (luxury touring), urethane grille surround on RS. 1974; new look, with shovel nosed front and the rear taillights wrapped into the fenders 1972 engines; 110hp 250 cu in 6 cyl, 130hp 307 V8, 165 and 250hp 350 V8, 240hp 396 V8 (255hp 350 in Z28)
