Along with Avena barbata, Bromus rubens, and Vulpia (Festuca) myuros, Bromus diandrus dominates much of California in the open dry lower elevation settings along the coast and in the central valley region. The expansive landscape level dominance of these annual exotic grasses is awesome in the true sense of that word. Brassica nigra (black mustard) is a bit more common near the road than away from it.
